Meet: Nook Owners Susan and Tiffany
On the road
Most of our vans are commissioned by an existing customer, but sometimes we build one with no one in mind- just a desire to explore something new. This 144” Sprinter camper started off as our 2025 Studio Edition. We took the chance to try out some unique colorways and knew it would someday find a great home. Susan and Tiffany had been considering a Nook for some time, and when they saw our new demo van, they knew it was the one for them. Just like that, our Studio Edition became Sage.
Each Nook that leaves our shop is the start of a relationship. We often are in touch with our clients for years to come; following their adventures, answering questions, sometimes even building them a second larger van. We have a new practice of sending recent clients a list of questions so we can use their real-world feedback to continuously improve. We’d like to share some of the questions and answers from Susan and Tiffany (as well as their photos from the road!) with you.

Q&A WITH SUSAN AND TIFFANY
Q: What was the first trip you took with your Nook?
A: Our maiden voyage was a 2 week trip, that took us through Glacier National Park, Yellowstone National Park, Grand Teton National Park.
Q: What surprised you the most about travelling in a camper van?
A: As we were driving through the national parks, we really appreciated having everything nearby. If we got rained on, were hungry, needed a nap, or a water refill, we could walk back to the van. We hadn’t thought about this being a perk before the experience.

Q: What’s your favorite thing about owning your Nook?
A: Having our Nook has been life-changing for me. I have a chronic illness that has a sudden onset of symptoms. In the past it has made me afraid to adventure or travel because I didn’t know when I was going to feel sick, and worried about being uncomfortable. Our first trip in the Nook showed me that I can be adventurous and travel with my chronic illness. There were many times I needed to go back and rest, and I would wake up from a nap, tears in my eyes with gratitude for the van. I feel so comfortable and safe in the Nook. I have my meds, my cold compression in the freezer, fresh healthy foods in the fridge, warm clothes in the closet, and a comfortable place to sleep. We don’t have to drive hours back to a hotel to rest, or struggle to find a healthy restaurant to eat at because we have our Nook kitchen. It has been the biggest confidence boost for me and helps me to feel like I can still live an adventurous travel life that I love despite my chronic illness.
Q: What’s your favorite feature inside your Nook?
A: Integrated shades in the side windows, and cab shelf curtain that really block out light and make it easy to get good rest.
Q: If you were recommending Nook to a friend, what would you tell them?
A: It’s like having a new family member that’s super adventurous, fun, capable and comfortable!

Q: What’s been the biggest learning curve in owning your van?
A: Water consumption - we didn’t use the shower as much as we could have, because we worried about running out of water, but ended up having opportunities to fill up.
Boondocking - finding free places to stay for the night that feel safe.
Q: What makes you feel most at home when in your Nook?
A: The van is beautifully designed AND functional. It feels like a cozy, upscale hotel room on wheels. It really doesn’t feel like you are sleeping in a cold metal box!
Q: What are you most excited about for the future with your Nook?
A: Visiting many more national parks, cross country road trips, weekend nature getaways, and having an extra bed when our house is full of guests.
PS. We do believe camper vans can make the outdoors more accessible, including to people with chronic illness and unique access needs, and we love to see that in action. Get in touch if you have questions about how a Nook can be tailored for accessibility and adventure.
